To a pawnbroker, this issue is costly in terms of profit and reputation when a counterfeit piece is bought and sold in good faith. It is up to the store owner and their employees to be educated and proficient in learning the tell-tale signs and indicators of a counterfeit watch, and to avoid risky transactions on both ends.
